Scientific Integrity Office

The Otto von Guericke University Magdeburg stands for high-quality and trustworthy science. Scientific integrity is therefore a core principle of our research, teaching and promotion of young researchers and is implemented in our legally binding statutes to ensure good scientific practice.

All our members are therefore responsible for complying with and communicating the basic principles of good scientific practice: “working lege artis, maintaining strict honesty in attributing one’s own contributions and those of others, rigorously questioning all findings, and permitting and promoting critical discourse within the research community”. (DFG Code of Conduct "Guidelines for Safeguarding Good Research Practice")

Research in accordance with the standards of good scientific practice is a basic prerequisite for scientific integrity. Here you will find information, documents and further resources on this topic.

The ombudspersons advise and support members of the OVGU as neutral contact persons in questions of good scientific practice and in cases of suspected scientific misconduct.

The Scientific Integrity Office regularly offers courses and workshops on good scientific practice.

We also offer advice and support if you would like to offer your own GSP events - please contact us!
