Workshop for PhD students and postdocs

This course focuses on the standards of good scientific practice throughout the publishing process. Tailored for PhD students and postdocs, it provides essential knowledge to ensure credibility, transparency, and integrity in academic publishing. This course empowers early-career researchers to publish responsibly while adhering to the standards of good scientific practice.

Contents

  • Ethical Foundations: Understand the principles of honesty, originality, and responsibility in research and publication and their legal basis
  • Authorship Guidelines: Learn how to determine authorship fairly, avoid issues like ghost authorship or honorary authorship, and ensure accountability
  • Plagiarism and Intellectual Property: Master proper citation practices to protect intellectual contributions and avoid misconduct
  • Journal Selection: Learn how to identify suitable journals and avoid pitfalls such as predatory journals
  • Scientific Misconduct: Explore the consequences of unethical practices such as data manipulation or duplicate publication

Free of charge for PhD students and postdocs in Saxony-Anhalt.

If you are unable to attend after registering, please inform us immediately at graduate.academy@ovgu.de.

This will enable us to consider other interested participants who are still on a waiting list. Please note that if you do not cancel your participation in good time and/or if you do not show up on the day of the event, we may be forced to claim compensation from you for the proportionate costs of the event incurred in relation to your person.
